Word of welcome

Welcome to the International School Eindhoven!

Whether your child is changing schools soon due to relocation, is going to school for the first time, or is already at our school; at ISE we realise how important the right decision is for you and your child. As a parent, you want to be sure that your child’s school is a challenging and safe learning environment. We take this very seriously and this is always our goal. In this school guide we explain how we provide this, together with you.

This school guide is intended for parents, guardians and other parties involved in our school. With this school guide we would like to introduce you to our school. In the guide you can find information about our vision on education, you can read how we organize education at our school, how support is arranged for our students and you will find practical information, such as school hours and holidays.

The Primary Dutch Bilingual department is located at Jan Luikenstraat in Eindhoven’s city centre. Under the ISE banner, we provide education to our students at this beautiful location with the same vision, while remaining as connected as possible with the international departments at the ISE campus on Oirschotsedijk. Not only do we offer a unique campus with small class sizes, but we are also proud of our highly qualified, internationally diverse team. Our students, too, come not only from the Netherlands but from many different countries and cultures. This is essential and helps (new) students feel at home quickly at our school and in their classrooms. It is our goal to help all children develop their unique talents and introduce them to other cultures, without compromising their own cultural identity. We support all children in developing into confident global citizens who can contribute positively to their own and others’ futures. We cannot do this alone. To properly support the education we provide, we believe it is vital to build a strong partnership with parents.

We are proud to announce that, as of this school year, our department is officially a candidate school for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). By choosing this internationally recognized framework, we can better meet the needs of our students, as the program focuses on inquiry-based learning and the development of a broad, global perspective. This transition enables us to offer a seamless connection to international education worldwide, leveraging the unique background of each student to stimulate critical thinking and personal growth.

We would like to cordially invite you to visit our school to experience the unique atmosphere for yourself. Please call or email us to make an appointment. We would be delighted to show you around our school.

This school guide has been established with the approval of the parent section of the participation council (MR). We hope you enjoy reading it.

Competent authority

Our school belongs to the foundation of SILFO (Stichting Internationaal en Lokaal Funderend Onderwijs). SILFO consists of six schools, the Stedelijk College Eindhoven (SCE), the Strabrecht College, the International School Eindhoven (ISE), the Global College Eindhoven, primary school Beneden Beekloop and primary school De Ganzebloem. The competent authority of the Foundation is formed by the Board of Directors. Supervision of the Foundation is exercised by the Supervisory Board. The Board of Directors is the policy body of the school where the ultimate responsibility lies for decisions concerning the school. The Board of Directors is accountable to the parents during the annual Parent/Board Evening, where the finances of the school and important developments concerning the school are discussed. The Board of Directors can be contacted via the school.

Administrative Merger as of January 1, 2027

This school guide is valid from August 1, 2026, through July 31, 2027. As of January 1, 2027, the SILFO, SECVO, and OGOB foundations will merge administratively into a single new legal entity with a single Executive Board and a single Supervisory Board. For students and parents, this will cause little change in the educational offering or the daily routine within the school. The school will retain its own identity and BRIN registration (unique identification code assigned to educational institutions in the Netherlands).

Participation Council (MR/DR and GMR)

The school has a participation council (medezeggenschapsraad, MR). The MR/DR consists of representatives of staff and parents (and, in secondary education, also students). Under the Dutch School Participation Act (Wet medezeggenschap op scholen, WMS), the MR/DR has advisory and approval rights regarding matters concerning the school, such as the school plan and the school prospectus.

As of January 1, 2027, the school will fall under the competent authority of the new foundation. A joint participation council (gemeenschappelijke medezeggenschapsraad, GMR) functions within the foundation for both primary (PO) and secondary (VO) education. The GMR deals with overarching, foundation-wide matters that affect multiple or all schools within the foundation. The composition and procedure of the GMR are laid down in the foundation’s current participation regulations. These regulations can be consulted via www.silfo.nl. For questions, please contact the school management.
